As we are getting ready for the 2023/24 school year I would like to share a few reminders with you. Immunizations need to be up to date for all new enterers this includes PK and K. Immunizations for 7th and 12th graders need to be up to date this includes the TDap and Menectra requirements. If your student requires an emergency medication ( this includes but is not limited to inhalers, seizure meds, epi pens and glucagon) I need to have the order from your health care provider and the medication in hand on or before the first day of school. It is a safety issue for your student for these medications/orders to not be on hand. I will be available at the back to school bash if you have any questions or want to bring medications for CMHS to me. School based health has been available for immunizations please call 354-9732 or your regular health care provider to make an appointment if necessary. The Columbus Zoo Field Trip is expected to return back at CCMHS at 8:45 PM. We will update if anything changes.

NO Early Steps to Kindergarten Readiness (PARENT CHILD GROUPS) WILL BE HELD THE WEEK OF JULY 10TH THROUGH JULY 14TH. There however will be 2 Story walks set up the week of July 8 through 17 for everyone to use. One will be on the walking track @Pleasant Hill Elementary School. The 2nd will be around the walking track @Arnoldburg Park. Tag Debra Dawson-Smith, showing you and your child/children using the story walks. **Pictures are for example. They are not set up in front of the courthouse.

During the weekly Parent Child Groups, we will be exploring the following Language, Literacy and Math Kindergarten Readiness skill areas: Knowing about the alphabet, books and print; talking and listening; understanding words and sounds; numbers, counting, patterns, sorting and classification; comparison, measurement and geometry. These are all critical skills that your child needs in order to be prepared for Preschool and Kindergarten. I look forward to meeting you and helping prepare your child for school success!

One lucky parent/caregiver will win a small door prize. During the weekly Parent Child Groups, we will be exploring the following Language, Literacy and Math Kindergarten Readiness skill areas: Knowing about the alphabet, books and print; talking and listening; understanding words and sounds; numbers, counting, patterns, sorting and classification; comparison, measurement and geometry. These are all critical skills that your child needs in order to be prepared for Preschool and Kindergarten. I look forward to meeting you and helping prepare your child for school success! Good morning, You may hear students talking about the our new alert system today. Calhoun County School is in the final stages of testing the system, provided by the COPS Grant, in our schools. This system will allow quicker response times for schools and first responders in case of an emergency. Evaluation of the system is starting, to ensure all the settings and various announcements are working.

Calhoun County Schools received a $20,000 grant from the Sisters Health Foundation to provide tobacco prevention/intervention and mental health awareness & wellness: Train Your Brain; Help, Hope, Live in Calhoun for students through a brokered partnership with Westbrook, Minnie Hamilton Health Systems, Communities in Schools, 21st Century Learning and the Brother Up Foundation. We appreciate the additional support to continue our focus of help by creating a framework for connectedness and improvement in the lives of our students and families.
